Temperature: stable beats high
Neocaridina can live across broad ranges, but sustained heat speeds metabolism, reduces available oxygen, and can shorten lifespan. A moderate stable range usually works best for long-lasting colonies.
GH, KH, and molting
GH provides minerals important for the exoskeleton. KH helps stabilize pH. Extreme values or sudden shifts can cause molting issues. If using RO water, remineralize in a controlled way.
TDS: useful, not absolute
TDS helps detect changes, but it does not tell you which minerals are in the water. Two tanks with the same TDS can be very different. Use it as a stability indicator, not the only criterion.
Water changes
Small regular changes are safer than large corrections. Matching temperature and avoiding strong mineral differences reduces stress and molting problems.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is the best pH for Neocaridina?
They usually do well near neutral or slightly alkaline water, as long as it is stable.
Do they need RO water?
Not always. Many colonies do well in suitable stable tap water.
